Day 1 :

Delhi – Leh; Rest and acclimatization

Arrive at Leh Airport, where your guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your comfortable homestay in Leh.

Take the day to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude, which is crucial, especially during Ladakh’s cold winter season.

Enjoy a hearty Ladakhi dinner and unwind with an overnight stay at your homestay, gearing up for the exciting adventure ahead.

Day 2 :

Leh; Local sightseeing and exploring Chilling

Wake up refreshed and prepare for a day of exploration and adventure.

After breakfast, head towards the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers, a stunning site where the two rivers meet and display strikingly different colors at various times of the year.

Drive past the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine, and continue to the Magnetic Hill, where you can witness the fascinating phenomenon of your vehicle appearing to slide uphill when in neutral gear.

Visit the Hall of Fame Museum, a tribute to the brave soldiers who fought in the Ladakh and Kargil regions, with fascinating war memorabilia and displays.

Explore the historic Spituk Gompa, a 15th-century monastery that houses sacred Buddhist relics and beautiful Thangkas of Lord Buddha.

Continue your journey to the Zanskar River, driving towards the Chilling village. Here, walk on the frozen Zanskar River as part of the iconic Chadar Trek experience.

From Chilling, head to the remote village of Ulley, known for its unique community, one of the highest villages in Western Ladakh, offering a rare glimpse into local life.

Day 3 :

Medical Checkup & Permit Formalities

Visit Sonam Norbhu Memorial Hospital (SNM) for a mandatory medical check-up after two days of acclimatization. This is required by government regulations before starting the Chadar Trek.

The medical team will assess your fitness to ensure you're prepared for the challenging high-altitude trek.

After clearance, we'll secure Wildlife Permits, Insurance, and other essential paperwork needed for the trek.

Spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the trek ahead, knowing all the formalities are taken care of.

Day 4 :

Scenic Drive from Leh to Shingra Koma, Trek to Gyalpo via Chilling and Tilad Do (11,400 ft)

Start early with a hearty breakfast, as today marks the beginning of your Chadar Trek!

Drive to Chilling, the starting point of the trek, enjoying scenic views of the Zanskar River, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the confluence of Zanskar and Indus.

The drive takes about 1.5 hours, with picturesque stops along the way.

Begin the Chadar Trek to Gyalpo, the first campsite, passing Tilad Do and Shingra Koma.

The short 1.5-hour trek introduces you to walking on the frozen Zanskar River, as you slide across the chadar (ice blanket).

Arrive at Gyalpo campsite, take in the stunning views, and set up camp.

Keep yourself warm and hydrated as you rest in your tent for the night, ready for another day of adventure ahead!

Day 5 :

Trek to Tibba Cave (11,800 ft)

Wake up early to witness a stunning Himalayan sunrise, followed by a warm breakfast and a soothing cup of tea to ease the cold from the night.

After breakfast, embark on your trek to Tibba Cave, situated at an altitude of 11,800 ft. The trek will take about 6-7 hours, following the Zanskar River throughout.

Prepare to be amazed by the breathtaking views along the way – from frozen waterfalls to striking rock formations that shift colors in the sunlight.

As you approach the campsite near Tibba Cave, take in the vast beauty of the cold desert, with its sandy surroundings and rugged terrain.

After setting up camp, relax and enjoy a hot, satisfying dinner before retiring for the night in the tranquility of the desert.

Day 6 :

Trek from Tibb Cave to Nerak (11,150 ft)

Start your day with a beautiful sunrise and a warm, hearty breakfast to fuel up for the challenging trek ahead.

Prepare yourself for a day of extreme cold, as you’ll experience the lowest temperatures of the entire trek, despite the slight drop in altitude.

The trek covers 13 km and takes around 7 hours to complete. The highlight of the day is the Nerak Waterfall, an awe-inspiring 56-ft frozen waterfall, suspended in time with its water frozen mid-air!

If time allows, we may explore Nerak Village, a small but charming settlement near the waterfall, offering a glimpse into local life.

The campsite is located just 20 minutes from the waterfall. Be prepared for extreme cold, as temperatures here can plummet to as low as -30°C at night.

After a hot, rewarding dinner, retreat to your warm tents for a restful night in the frozen wilderness.

Day 7 :

Trek from Nerak to Tibb Cave

Start the day with a warm, satisfying breakfast, then pack up and begin your trek back to Tibb Cave.

As you retrace your steps, you’ll notice that the route feels surprisingly new. Despite following the same path, the Zanskar River and the landscape shift subtly with temperature changes, giving the journey a fresh perspective.

Along the way, you may encounter local life, such as monks returning to Leh from Lingshed or villagers going about their daily tasks. Seeing smiling children heading to school in such remote and harsh conditions will undoubtedly lift your spirits.

The return trek takes about 6-7 hours, bringing you back to the Tibb Cave campsite where you'll set up camp for the night, feeling accomplished after your adventurous day.

Day 08 :

Trek from Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma, and drive to Leh | 11,400 ft

Start the day with a warm, satisfying breakfast, then pack up and begin your trek back to Tibb Cave.

As you retrace your steps, you’ll notice that the route feels surprisingly new. Despite following the same path, the Zanskar River and the landscape shift subtly with temperature changes, giving the journey a fresh perspective.
